[Peeweelinux] how to creat a standalone image file on my HD

I could be wrong about this, but I think there's a practical difficulty
associated with doing that. It's my understanding that the boot image has
hard coded in it the specific spot on the partition table where the root
image lives, and so you'd have to redo that for each new device. Otherwise
we wouldn't need lilo at all. By forcing you to install to an actual
device, pee wee assures itself that all of the relevant information is
available to it during the install. There may be a way to set up a
loopback device with a number of virtual cylinders, heads, etc.,
concurrent with your freind's harware, I haven't explored this option.
